For Su...

...and anyone else who is interested :-) Here is the latest update of her RR. I need to finish backstitching in the window panes of the house and then stitch the garden between the house and the birdhouse. Hope you like it, Su!

Tiny update

Since Carol is so impatient for updates (and rightly so, Carol ;o), I decided to share a progress picture of her RR. Not much so far, but here it is:
I was so nervous when I first put my needle to Carol's fabric, my fingers actually trembled! Silly me. I showed Rachael the RR yesterday and she assured me it was fine, though. This is what I have stitched so far: The house (which is nearly done, except for the roof and a few of the darker bricks) is a Sheepish Designs freebie, only I replaced the blue surface that the design called for, so now it is a brick house. I like brick houses. I'm not sure about the garden yet. Some sort of fancy tree might be in order.. In all probability I will just make it up as I go along. Anyway, here's your update, Carol. Hope you like!

A peek at Rachael's RR

This is the top right corner. I've been working on the ocean section.
Below will be another structure. I plan to add a few finishing touches to Rachael's specifications.

An update on Su's RR

I am so sorry for the poor pic... and Blogger wouldn't upload it, so I had to use Photobucket... But, here is a new update on Su's RR.... I have decided to stick with Prairie Schooler after having stitched the birdhouse. Now I am adding the house and as much of the garden as I can fit from "Good Huswifes in Summer" in the Summer Samplers leaflet :-)

I have already chatted with Annemarie about this - I will be posting this one off to her plenty early :-)

did you think I'd fallen off the earth?

My better half kindly uploaded some pictures while at work today, so I can give you a small peek at my progress on Annemarie's neighborhood. As you may remember, I was so excited to get this that I immediately started on it and stitched for a few days on nothing else. Then that darn mailart came up, and I just lost my steam. A slump. Blah. But even though I haven't picked this lovely linen up for stitching in a longish while, I am as excited as ever about the design(s) I'm doing. What you see here is a section from a Prairie Moon design with a peacock (stitched over one) from The Goode Huswife. Annemarie and Jula are both fond of barns, so I hoped they'd enjoy this design, and I think the faded reds compliment the blues of Annemarie's house rather well. There is a lot yet to come, and I will try to do a better job supplying progress pics.

And now a peek at Su's RR

I gave Su's RR its official start today! I am stitching the Prairie Schooler birdhouse that she likes on the Dijon RR... since she asked so very politely in her questionnaire if someone would stitch it for her, I am all too happy to oblige. It does, however, lead to a bit of a challenge. The two houses Su stitched are really very petite. The birdhouse is so huge that it looks like a Giant Redwood Tree in comparison to them. But I figured out that if I cut off part of its pole (you cannot imagine how large this is in full on the chart), and drop it down to the lower corner of my block... then place my house, etc. on a higher plane to the left of it in my block... well, this should look like it is in the foreground and the HUGE size of the birdhouse should be OK... it still needs two big birds stitched on it too :-)

I hope Su doesn't mind... I followed her lead and let the basting she put in be important, but also used it more as a "guide," as the birdhouse pole drops a little into the top of Su's block below it, and a few stitches do go over to the still empty block on the right... Otherwise there will be no room for my house, etc... who could have known how huge this birdhouse is?? Su, does it all look OK to you? Mike and I think it looks great.... input please, group??
